Repairing a Long Tear on a Kia Optima Bumper Cover
This Kia Optima bumper cover was damaged in an accident, and a new replacement was not available, with no estimate for when one would be back in stock. Using Polyvance plastic repair tools and equipment, we were able to repair and recondition the bumper cover to like-new condition.
While this video focuses on the repair process and technique, it also highlights a repair-versus-replace decision made under unique circumstances. Normally, replacing a Kia Optima bumper cover would be the preferred option, as they are relatively inexpensive and readily available. However, at the time of repair, the owner couldn't find an OEM or aftermarket bumper cover, and there was no estimated availability. In this case, repairing the bumper cover became the only viable option. This nitrogen fusion welding technique can be applied to any thermoplastic bumper cover, regardless of cost—whether inexpensive or high-end.
