High-density polyethylene (HDPE) plastic welding rod is used when welding high-density polyethylene plastic.

High-density polyethylene is stiffer and less flexible than low-density polyethylene, but it is used in similar applications. HDPE is used in automotive parts such as fluid reservoirs and fender liners. Outside the automotive industry, it is found in kayaks and canoes, ATV and dirt bike fenders, playground equipment, and more. Due to its waxy texture, polyethylene is virtually impossible to repair effectively with adhesives. Welding is the best method for repairing polyethylene.
