How to Use
Clean part to be bonded with soap and water, then with Super Prep or EcoPrep Plastic Cleaner.
Bevel the edges of holes and cracks to provide more surface area and a smoother transition to the adhesive.
Sand surfaces around the groove with 80 grit sandpaper and radius any sharp edges. If using a reinforcing strip, clean and sand the mating surface of the strip in the same way.
Clean a second time with plastic cleaner. Apply adhesive liberally. Press adhesive into the sanding scratches with a body spreader or gloved finger, leaving a thin layer of adhesive on the surface. Apply the lamination strip or apply several layers of glass cloth, working adhesive into each layer. Apply more adhesive if glass cloth not fully saturated.
Loosely clamp parts together and let cure for 30-35 minutes at 70°F (21°C). (Increase fixture time in colder temperatures.) When loosely clamping a reinforcing strip, a small amount of adhesive should squeeze out. If not, peel off the strip and apply more adhesive to prevent a weak “dry” joint. Maximum strength is achieved in 24 hours.
Finishing: Sanded PlastiFix may be primed and painted. Epoxy primer is recommended. If filler is needed, use only epoxy based fillers over sanded PlastiFix. Do not use polyester based fillers or glazes.
