Estimating Plastic Repair (EPR-02)
This course educates estimators and other collision repair industry professionals on the variables involved in estimating the repair of damaged automotive plastics.
In this course, students will learn how to assess the damage of automotive plastic parts, focusing on bumper covers and headlights. The majority of the course will consist of a discussion-driven classroom session. The instructor will also provide an in-shop demonstration of a bumper cover repair.
Plastics are used all over today’s vehicles and will only become more prevalent as manufacturers use it to reduce vehicle weight and extend battery life for electric vehicles.
Shops that take advantage of plastic repair opportunities can experience reduces cycle time, reduced average cost to repair, and increased profits.
Training Objectives:
- Recognize plastic repair opportunities
- Understand the different methods of plastic repair
- Make an informed decision on repairing or replacing damaged plastic
- Accurately gauge the severity of damage on bumper covers
- Accurately gauge the severity of damage on headlights
- Determine if a damaged textured part can be repaired or if it should be replaced
