Here is an example of a typical crack on a motorcycle fairing.
Starting from the backside, grind away the paint surrounding the damage. This will give the PlastiFix a better surface to bond to.
Cut a piece of fiberglass cloth (not included with the kit) that will span and overlap the crack. Place the cloth in place after it has been cut.
Sprinkle some PlastiFix powder over the fiberglass cloth...
Drip the PlastiFix liquid onto the PlastiFix powder...
Allow time for the Plastifix to cure before working on the reverse side.
Using a Dremel® tool, grind a V-groove along the crack line.
Sand away the paint surrounding the crack line. This will allow a better bond with the PlastiFix
Fill the V-groove with PlastiFix material using the dropper method.
After allowing plenty of time for the PlastiFix to cure, sand the area smooth.
This Honda CBR had a crack in the fairing that was repaired using the Plastifix kit saving hundreds of dollars over buying a new fairing. |
